This qualification reflects the role of a variety of workers who use a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge to provide assistance to health professional staff for the care of clients. Health and community services sectors are the largest growing industries in Australia, estimated to grow by over 20% over the next five years. This Certificate III qualification will provide students with the entry level skills necessary for starting a career in the health and social services industries and provide a pathway for those wishing to pursue further study in these fields. This qualification requires a general command of spoken English, the capacity to read simple written instructions and the ability to write at the level needed to competently complete work related documents, reading skills to interpret basic medical terminology and abbreviations and interpersonal skills to work with diverse clients. 

Prior to enrolment, students must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Diagnostic test.

Training and Assessment will be conducted over 40 weeks of blended learning, including

  • Structured course induction
  • Self-paced online learning

  • Journaling of practical activities
  • Online tutorials (Zoom, 60-90 mins per fortnight)
  • Discussion forums to consolidate learning
  • 8 days of Face-to-face workshops spread over the course
  • Work placement (40 hours minimum)
