This qualification has been designed for senior high school students to gain an understanding of the Community Services Industry.

The CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services course will provide students with a basic understanding of the skills required to work within Aged Care, Disability and Health; and may be used as a pathway for workforce entry as a community service worker who provides the first point of contact and assists individuals in meeting their immediate needs.

Timetable Requirements (School Delivery Mode): 1-Timetabled line of Study

Appropriate for Year Levels: Year 10, 11, or 12

Study Mode: Combination of classroom and project-based learning, online learning (self-study) and workplace documentation in a community services setting.

Units of Competency: 9 Units (5 Core and 4 Elective Units)

QCE Credit Outcome: Maximum of 4 QCE Credits

The Certificate II in Community is a one-year program that can be completed alongside regular secondary school studies on 1-timetabled line of study (3 x 70 minutes per week).

During the program, students will learn essential skills and knowledge in community services, including communication, and assisting with client care and cover on the following topics:

  • Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)

  • Infection control

  • Communication

  • Customer service

  • Working with diverse people and teams

  • Supporting personal wellbeing in the workplace

  • Conducting basic health checks

  • Personal time management

Yes, students will be required to complete assessments throughout the program to demonstrate their understanding and competency in the health support services field. Assessment types include:

  • Multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions (online)

  • Practical activities and scenarios

  • Workplace Learning Log

  • Portfolio of workplace documents

  • World class Learner Management Platform (LMS) – The ‘CnG’ Hub

  • Industry standard training and assessment materials

  • Industry standard trainers

  • Tailored support for Health Trainers (Teachers) delivering the training and assessment to students (where required)

Connect ‘n’ Grow is approved as a Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) to deliver CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services as a VETiS funded qualification. Please note that this training and assessment services is delivered by the School (as a Third Party). VETiS funding eligibility is for senior high school students who are Australian or New Zealand Citizens or permanent residents, or temporary residents with the necessary visa, are eligible to utilise VETiS funding. Subsidised by the Queensland Government under the Vocational Education and Training in Schools Program (VETiS). Students are eligible to use VETiS funding to complete one program only.
