2023 Expression of Interest now open

The Deadly Start Education 2 Employment program is designed for senior school students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and are wanting to commence a career in one of Queensland’s biggest growth industries, Health.

Commencing in Term 1 2023, students will study the Certificate II in Health Support Services one day per week at an allocated Health Hub, Health Hubs located in;

  • Caboolture
  • Mango Hill
  • Mitchelton
  • Spring Hill

Students will undertake studies with a dedicated Expert Health Trainer in a fun and interactive leaning environment focusing on fostering a strong bond amongst students.

Over Term 1 and Term 2 students will study key areas in;

  • Infection control and safety
  • Participate in workplace health and safety
  • Perform general cleaning tasks in clinical setting
  • Organise and complete daily work task

Students will also explore the Health career industry and gain an understanding of the many roles and pathways within the health industry.

By the end of Term 2 students will have a better understanding of the health industry and will have the opportunity to pathway into a School based Traineeship with Metro North Health and Hospital services, employed as a Health Trainee at one of the following locations;

  • Royal Brisbane and Women Hospital
  • Redcliffe Hospital
  • Prince Charles Hospital
  • Caboolture Hospital

Commencing in Term 3, employed as a School based trainee, students will work one day per week whilst undertaking studies in the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance. Students will be supported to ensure they are set up for success and ultimately continue a career in Health.
