Course Overview

Health and community services sectors are the largest growing industries in Australia, estimated to grow by over 20% over the next five years. This short course (part qualification) is comprised of the 4 core units of competency in the HLT23215 Certificate II in Health Support Services, reflecting specific skills identified and in demand by industry and which is subsidised by the Queensland Government JobTrainer Fund for eligible students. Prior to enrolment, students must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Diagnostic test.

There are no other entry requirements, however it is expected that students have a general command of spoken English, the capacity to read simple written instructions, the ability to write at the level needed to competently complete work related documents  and interpersonal skills to work with diverse clients.

Training and Assessment will be conducted over 10 weeks of blended learning, including

  • Structured course induction
  • 10 weeks self-paced online learning
  • Auto-checked quizzes and assessments
  • Assigned activities
  • 5 x 60 minute online tutorials (Zoom)
  • Discussion forums to consolidate learning
  • A 2-day practical workshop at the end of the training

*Where a student is unable to attend the scheduled workshop, assessments may be negotiated to be undertaken at a future training workshop, provided completion is reached within 6 months of the program commencement.
