The Certificate III in Health Services Assistance [Assistant in Nursing] involves the worker in direct client contact under supervision.

This qualification is the entry level of nursing and provides a pathway for those wishing to pursue further study in the future towards becoming an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse. This course requires a general command of spoken English, the capacity to read simple written instructions and the ability to write at the level needed to competently complete work related documents, reading skills to interpret basic medical terminology and abbreviations and interpersonal skills to work with diverse clients.

Training and Assessment will be conducted over 6 months of blended learning, including,

  • Structured course induction
  • Self-paced online learning
  • Auto-checked quizzes and assessments
  • Assigned activities
  • Journaling of practical activities
  • Discussion forums to consolidate learning
  • Weekly Online tutorials (Zoom, 2hrs)
  • 10 days worth of in-person workshops to complete practical assessments*. These are located in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast & Townsville (coming soon: Mackay & Bundaberg)
  • You will be required to complete 80 hours work placement in a clinical setting to complete your qualification. This is :
    • non-paid work
    • must be supervised by an RN so that your logbook can be signed off
    • can be completed in Aged Care facilities – public & private hospitals and organisations that meet the supervision requirements of the training package.
    • Insurance for placement is covered by Connect’n’Grow
